What I am not

I am not a licensed professional in this field and I am not going to pretend otherwise, because the first reader who checks would be right to stop trusting the rest of the site.

What I actually do

I build websites, and this is one of them. It exists because of a problem I kept hitting while researching it: most pages either give a number with no working behind it, or are written to sell you something.

So the job I have given myself is not to be the expert. It is to gather what the primary sources actually publish, work out what it means for an ordinary reader, and lay the structure out in plain language, with the sources linked.

How I handle numbers

Repair prices, fuel prices and insurance vary enormously by state, by shop and by model, so a single national figure would be wrong for most readers. Instead we explain how a cost is structured and what the official sources say, and we show the arithmetic so you can put your own numbers in. When we do use figures, we say where they came from and when we last checked them.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell me and I will fix it and say that I did. Write to [email protected] with the page and what looks off. Corrections get answered before anything else.

How this site is paid for

Display advertising, and nothing else. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored articles and no product recommendations that anyone has paid to place. Advertisers have no say in what gets covered or what it concludes.
